BARONA EDUCATION GRANT and SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAMS

The Barona Band of Mission Indians is proud to help make a difference for schools throughout
California. Through the endorsement of your locally-elected state representatives, schools in your area
can now apply for Barona educational funding to purchase much-needed supplies and materials such
as books and computers.
Each grant awarded by the Barona Education Grant Program is $5,000. Applications for the grant may
be submitted by your locally-elected state official on your behalf, or you may submit the application directly as long as it is accompanied by an endorsement letter by your State Executive Office holder, Senator or Assembly member.

Happy 2024! We are pleased to announce that the Barona Education Grant Program is now accepting applications. The deadline to submit an application is July 1, 2024.

Each grant is $5,000, and K-12 schools can apply once per year.

One grant will be awarded per State Executive Office holder, Senator or Assembly member.

The Barona Education Grant Program will fund materials that promote academic improvement, and will benefit current & future students, including books and computers.

Awarded grants cannot be used for personnel, wages, sports equipment, athletic and recreational equipment, giveaway books, office furniture or supplies, field trips, vehicles, yearly online program subscriptions, scholarships, and one time use materials.

The application must be completed in full, and accompanied by an endorsement letter from a State Executive Office holder, Senator or Assembly member within your school district.

Applications can be downloaded by utilizing the above "Grant Form" link. Completed applications must be postmarked within 30 days of the written endorsement letter from the State Executive Office holder, Senator or Assembly member.

Completed applications and the endorsement letter must be mailed. Faxed or e-mailed applications will not be accepted.

Schools that receive an award from the Barona Education Grant program must submit an accountability report by utilizing the above "Accountability Form" link within one year of receiving the grant.
Scholarships available from the Barona Band of Mission Indians
Scholarship applications are accepted on a year round basis.
Tribal Member GRADUATE PROGRAM Scholarship
Scholarships for the graduate program are available to all Tribal Members for sums up to $50,000 per year to attend a college or university accredited by an entity recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.
Tribal Member UNDERGRADUATE PROGRAM Scholarship
Scholarships for the undergraduate program are available to all Tribal Members for sums up to $50,000 per year to attend a college or university accredited by an entity recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.
Tribal Member VOCATIONAL Scholarship
Scholarships are available to all Tribal Members to attend a vocational school for sums up to $25,000 per year. The vocational school must be accredited by the U.S. Department of Education in order to receive scholarship funding. Those schools that are not accredited will be considered on a case by case basis.
Direct Lineal Descendant Scholarship
Scholarships are available on a first come, first serve basis, to direct lineal descendants of all Tribal Members for sums up to $30,000 per year to attend a college or university, and up to $30,000 to attend a vocational school that is accredited by an entity recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. This is a joint application, for a direct lineal descendant student, with completion guaranteed by a Tribal Member.
Non-Tribal Member Scholarship
Scholarships are available for sums up to $5,000 to attend a college or university accredited by an entity recognized by the U.S. Dept. of Education. Vocational schools are not included in this policy.
